This is a review for Harrington on Cash Games: How to Win at No-Limit Hold’em Money Games; Volume 1 by Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie. The book was free if you think that makes a difference with my review.

I’m reading through the first of 2 books in the cash game series, and so yall don’t have to wait another 3-4 weeks for me to finish the whole of the first book, I’m posting my initial thoughts on the first 2 parts of the 5 part book. So far, the book is insightful, and easy to read and understand. The book definitely has the informative, yet connected feel that comes from writing about poker hands as though you’re sitting at a table analyzing and playing the hand that second. There’s no bluffing with this series (haha…ok, shoot me). I’m still undecided about one part of this book, but even with that possible negative, it’s still a treasure trove of information for those willing to pick up a copy.

Received both books in a small package today via the USPS. Nothing is better than opening up a brand new book, hearing the cracking of the spine of the book and experiencing the scent of freshly printed poker pages. I always get excited when I get new books, whether or not they come from the Bookstore, or via online. But there’s something special about getting the book directly from the publisher.

With the holiday this weekend, I won’t have much time to chew threw the book, but I’ll give you a rundown of the table of contents for the first volume.

Thought I’d throw an update out to everyone. I got an e-mail on Monday from http://www.professionalpoker.com/ letting me know that our copies of Harrington on Cash Games, Vol. I and II are on their way. I just checked online and they left Las Vegas yesterday, so expect a review from Matt and I in the upcoming weeks. If these two books are anything like the Harrington on Hold ‘Em: Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments, we should all be giddy with anticipation.

Of course, everyone’s financial situation is unique and should be considered individually, this is purely for educational purposes, and not specific advice for any reader, but with that out of the way, let’s get edumacated.

In our previous post, we introduced shorthanded no limit hold ‘em and covered what hands you should play from early and middle positions. Now we will cover late position and blind starting hands and how to play them accordingly.

As before the original hand ranges came courtesy http://www.kingscascade.com/ and their easy to use hand matrix Excel spreadsheet.
